World Verses Spirit

Posted on

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Colossians 3:2

The battle we all face are things of the world verses things of the Spirit. We can evaluate our life by noticing which is most interesting to us, doing things of the world or doing things of God.  Are our minds on earthly things, or are our minds on things above?

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) What we think about most, determines if we are worldly minded to spiritually minded. We may be spiritually minded on Sunday worship, but the Lord knows our thoughts every day of the week.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24) The way we live in this world is by doing everything for the Lord, and we will do everything better with the Lord’s help. This will enable us to keep our thoughts on things above and do the work we need to do each day.

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22) To move from a mind of the world to a mind of the spirit; we have to obey the Word. We obey the Word being a light for Christ and God fills our heart with his divine love, this is when we move from the world to the Spirit. Then things of God become far more interesting and rewarding than things of the World. We Become more eternally minded than earthly minded.

As we become more spiritually minded, the things of the world begin to fade aways. We start to interface to the world through the Spirit in everything we do, and we begin to depend on the Lord being with us at all times, because without Christ we feel lost. All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the Lord your God: (Deuteronomy 28:2) The blessing of God continually feed our spirit keeping us at a continuous level of contentment, and only God can bring lasting contentment, because it can never come from temporary things of the world.

Today focus on spiritual things, and commune with Christ.  Depend on Christ being with you, to guide you through the day, and help you in everything you do.

Prayer: Father, help me to do everything for Christ, and to interface to the world through the Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen
