Our Spiritual War

Posted on

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12

Our war is not against people, it’s against Satan, because he plants sin into our minds. Some sins we recognize and continually fight to overcome, while other sins we don’t even recognize because we have justified in our own minds, and this occurs when Satan poses as the angel of light.

Our spiritual war is against our own sinful nature which is revealed by own justification. Our flesh comes from world and graves things from the world therefore our spiritual war is between God’s will and our will. If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:1-3) This verse tells that our will has died to our sinful will, and our life is centered in Christ. Therefore, we are led through life by Christ through the Holy Spirit, and it’s an honor to be guided by Christ, who loves more than anyone, knows us better than we now ourself, and guides us better than we can guide our self.

Our spiritual war can be overcoming a sinful habit, which takes lots of prayer for the Lord’s power to free us.  Satan is always attacking us, and he know our weaknesses, but we have the infinite power of God to defeat Satan and his demons. But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3) No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) From these two verses we can know we have the power of God to overcome, but we have to learn to fight this spiritual war with the power of God. Be still and fight sinful temptations.

Today live in victory over Satan’s attacks and over our own sinful will, fighting with the infinite power of God. Live each moment of each day with the power of God, and overcome evil by doing good.

Prayer:  Lord guide me into victory over all sin thoughts and behaviors, no matter where the temptation comes from. In Jesus name, Amen
