We Live for Eternity

Posted on

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does he will of God lives forever

1 John 2:17

When we die in the flesh we step into eternity, and where we go depends on our life on earth. Our soul and spirit lives forever, and when Christ returns, we get a new younger body that lives forever. Every person that ever lived this short life on earth, will face eternity when the body dies.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14) Notice this verse tells us that many enter wide road to destruction, but only few find the narrow road that leads to life. Most people give priority to their earthly life instead of giving priority to Christ for eternal life in Heaven.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (1 John 2:17) Its easy to give priority on what is seen because we live in what is seen, but with the Holy Spirit, the Bible, and a Bible based Church family, we can focus on what is unseen, because we understand this earth life is temporary, and when we die, we step into eternity.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) God has done everything possible so Heaven will be our home: created us in God image, Bible to read and obey, the Holy Spirit that lives on the believer. But God has given us free will to obey God or by default obey Satan the great deceiver. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14)

Satan disguises as an angel to light and with his deception and lies, that make may people think Heaven is their home. And his deception keeps people away from a church family, from reading and obeying the Bible, and praying, and bringing people to Christ. If we know the Word, God will not let us be deceived by Satan.

Today know this life on earth is short. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14)

Prayer: Lord, help me to live everyday by what is unseen, so I can have eternal life in Heaven. In Jesus name, Amen
