We Are a Light on a Hill
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
We are called to be Light a Light on a hill, reflecting Christ and bringing the message of salvation. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. (Matthew 16:24) If we truly follow the Spirit, we will be led to be a Light on a hill, and we will minister to others and tell them about salvation through Christ.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8) The Lord is pleased when we are motivated to ask for opportunities to point people to eternal life through Christ. Love motivates us, and love fills our hearts as we minster to the world. We start ministering to souls driven by our love for the Lord, and God’s love increases in our hearts for the Lord and for people.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) Life to the full comes when our priority is serving Christ, following the Spirit teaching the world about Christ. The Lord molds us to be like Jesus, to be a Light on a hill because He created us to minister and it gives life to the full. That is why God fills our hearts with love as we minister, because love motivates us and frees us from self.
For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. (1 John 4:20) We show our love to the Lord by telling others about Christ, and as the Lord’s love fills our hearts, we know the Lord and His love for us. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John4:7)
Being a Light on a Hill, bringing the good news of Christ to the world; our hearts get filled with the Lord’s love, Christ becomes our life, we are motivated to minister to lost souls, and we are living life to the full. When our hearts are filled with the Lord’s love, our life resembles the life of Jesus, and we are motivated to tell the world about Christ.
Today be a Light on a hill, reflecting Jesus to everyone, and pray that the Lord opens a door to tell someone about Christ. Overcome evil from Satan’s attack by doing good.
Prayer: Lord guide me through the Spirit to be a Light on a hill, because I may be the last chance for someone to hear about eternal life through Christ. There are many lost souls in the world looking for answers, and I have the answers from the Word. In Jesus name, Amen.
