Conform to the Image of His Son

Posted on

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

Romans 8:29

For those who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior are predestined to conform to the image of Jesus. Since God looks at our hearts, then our hearts must change to the heart of Jesus. The heart of Jesus is revealed in the Gospels as Jesus ministered to his apostles and brought the Truth with love and compassion to people.  Jesus’ priority was to do what the Father showed him.  Jesus gave them this answer: Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. (John 5:19-20)

God is molding us to the mind and heart of Jesus so we can be motivated as Jesus. Our hearts filled with love and compassion for the people and love for the Father will point people to Christ. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) Paul was crucified and he no longer lives which means his will died and changed to the Lord’s will.  Jesus’ focus was on serving the Father and ministering to people.  When our hearts are filled with God’s love, our focus, through the Spirit, is on following Christ and ministering to people.

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14 ESV) Just as Jesus was guided by the Father, we are guided by the Spirit.  Christ lives our hearts, and he changes the desires of our hearts to follow His perfect will.  As we serve the Lord, He fills our hearts with His love which enables us to know Christ and motivates us to follow the Spirit.  The more we are motivated to serve the Lord, the easier it is to follow the Spirit.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8) When we are motivated by our hearts filled with God’s love, we pray for the Lord to open doors to minister to others.

Today, live reflecting Jesus to others and pray that the Lord puts someone your path to hear the good news of Christ. Know the Lord is with you guiding your heart, and never forget your home is in Heaven.

Prayer: Lord, I pray that my life shows the image of Jesus.  Fill my heart with your love so I will live for Christ and point lost souls to Christ, my Lord.  In Jesus name, Amen
