The Real You

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone. The new has come

I Corinthians 5:17

Do you know your divine calling from God? Do you know the person God created you to be? When we accept Christ as our Savior and receive the indwelling Holy Spirit, God is molding us into the person he created us to be. We are to be Christ-like with our God-given personality, skills, and desires. God has a unique plan for your life which can only be revealed by following the Holy Spirit. I gave my life to the Lord at the age of fifty-nine, and if had not given my life to the Lord, I would have never known the person God created me to be.

How do we find the person we are created to be? If we follow the Holy Spirit, praying for God to open a door for ministry, step out on faith, and the Lord will reveal the ministry. Persist in the ministry long enough, because the ministry may be uncomfortable at first, until God has developed and revealed your talent. This happened to me early in walk with the Lord; a door was opened to teach a Bible class at residential addiction recovery facility. I had no experience in teaching a Bible class but stepped out in faith beyond my fear, and twelve years later I have found teaching very fulfilling and rewarding.

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will. (Ephesians 1:11). God has a predestined plan for our life, and when we fulfill that plan we live a fulfilled life. Life becomes rewarding and exciting, as the Lord opens doors and closes doors, as he continually molds us to be more Christ-like and into the person we are predestined to be. Through the power of Christ we are capable of doing things for the Lord in this world that beyond our own imagination. I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. (Psalm 57:2).

Today be careful to notice any doors the Lord may have opened for you. You may have been asked to teach a Bible class at church, visit someone in the hospital, drive someone to the doctor, or encourage someone. We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28). Part of the good God works is to make you more like Christ, and to open doors for your ministry.

Prayer: Lord, guide me to be the person you created me to be. Show me the plan for my life through each day of serving you through the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Mold me and develop any hidden talents that you may have given me. Guide me in the Spirit to be the new creation in Christ. In Jesus name, Amen
