Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:24

How does the pace of this world affect our thinking and emotions? We travel to work with backup traffic, we wait in a long line for fast food, and we hope time permits us to do all of the day’s tasks. This fast paced world can leave us with the need for always doing something, or filling our mind thinking about the things we have to do tomorrow. Is this fast paced world the life God desires for us? Are there any scriptures that reveal when Jesus was rushed?

Matthew 6:24 tells us not to worry about tomorrow. This doesn’t mean we don’t plans for tomorrow, it means we don’t worry about tomorrow because we trust the Lord to guide us. Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10) From this verse we are told to be still in our thoughts and from Matthew 6:24 we are told not to worry. How do we do this in this fast paced world where Satan is tempting us with fear?

Satan is always trying to lead us in the opposite direction of the Lord’s will. We are created to live with peace, joy, patience, a heart of love, and rest for our souls. Satan wants us to live with no peace, fear, rushed, self-centered, and stressed. This can easily be result of a fast paced world.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) How can we live the full life Christ has for us if we cannot be still inside and have rest for our souls? No matter how we live in this fast paced world, we can always be closer to the Lord and experience a more fulfilling life.

Living a full life comes from faith and giving God control. As we walk through life trusting the Lord and experience the freedom from giving him control, we still may have the habit of a fast paced life. Therefore we pray for the Lord to give us peace and rest for our souls as we strive to be still in our minds. We focus on being relaxed and we ask the Lord to guide us step by step, slowing us down inside, because if we are slowed down inside our pace of life will also be more relaxing and efficient.

Today seek the Lord if you find yourself rushed or anxious, because it can be an attack from Satan. Strive to walk connected to God in thought, and reap the peace, joy, confidence, and love that he gives to you. Experience a day of relaxing thoughts and a relaxed confident pace. Seek to keep the world from controlling you in anger.

Prayer: Lord, help me to walk today step by step, living life to the fullest. Keep Satan from rushing me, placing fear in my life, and tempting me with anger. Control me through the Spirit to walk in love, peace, and in your power to overcome impatience. In Jesus name, Amen
