The Language of God

Posted on

Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Psalm 119:105

The Word is the language of God, and enables us to know God and to live by the Spirit. The Word is alive, and when we obey the Word, it will change our thinking and our life. God guides us through the Word, and we become the person God created us to be.

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22) It is important we obey the Word because the Word will move from our minds to our hearts.  If we just read the Word, it will only be in short-term memory and we will forget it, but if we think about the Word and make notes, it will move to long-term memory and we retain longer; but if we continue to obey the Word it will stay with us forever.

As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. (Psalm 18:30) Reading and obeying the Word, we will develop a strong faith in God; and when we receive the Holy Spirit, we are in God’s family. We are now secure in Christ because we know Heaven is our eternal home.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (Hebrews 4:12) We live by the Word and we bring the Word to others, for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training; all with a heart of love. We learn to live by the Word and we tell others the divine blessings of living by the Word.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) Christ speaks to us through the Spirit, and guides us through life to our eternal home. The more we know the Word, the more we will hear the thoughts Christ puts into our minds. But we must be still inside to notice Christ speaking to us. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10)

When read and obey the Word, we will have better understanding of God, and we will continually be closer to Christ with more faith and dependence.  Christ will become our life, and we will live life to full, because only Christ can give us a lasting contentment which comes from Heaven.

Today read the Word and dwell on scripture, so it will go into long-erm memory. Always seek to obey the scripture through the power of God so the Word will move to your heart and become your life.

Prayer: Guide me to continually know your divine Word, and to obey your Word through your guidance. In Jesus name, Amen
