The Image of God

Posted on

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:27

What kind of life should we live since we are created in the image of God? The answer is found by observing the life of Jesus, because we are to conform to the image of His Son, Romans 8:29. When we live in the image of God, we live the best life possible, and Heaven is our home.

We receive the Holy Spirit, and the Father and the Son make their home with us. We are in the family of God, and our character reveals the character of God, just as a child reveals the characteristics of the father and mother. We reveal the characteristics of God, because He is our Father.

God is love and all those in His family will be molded by God to have a heart of Love. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31) A heart of love is the most important attribute that God gives us when we serve Christ. A heart of love makes us more like Jesus, because a heart love makes all the commands in the Bible natural to us.

We are created to know the Father and fully depend on Him for everything, with thankful hear; and our faith is independent of anything in the world. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6) We are to know God intimately, because the more we know God the stronger our faith.

God has given us the Word so can know Him and His Son. The more we read, study, and obey the Word; the more we become like Jesus and the closer we are to the Father and the Son. Being close to God and the Son is the greatest thing in life, because we are created to be one with Father and with Christ. God sent Christ to earth to show us how to live and to die for our sins. We can identify with Christ because he was human, and Christ and the Father are one. Knowing Jesus from scripture and from our life, enables us to know the Father more. Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. (John 14:8-10)

Today remember that you are created in the image of God, which means obeying everything command in the Bible is natural us, and gives us the best life possible with Heaven being our home.

Prayer: Father, help me to always live the way you created me. In Jesus name, Amen
