Angel of Light
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 11:14
Satan disguises himself as an angel of light, which means he appears as a creature of light to draw us to himself with his lies. How can we discern which light is of God and which light is of Satan? Our minds and hearts are easily confused by conflicting messages. Exposure to His Word will help us recognize the difference between the light of God and the counterfeit light from Satan. Millions believe his deceptions because they do not know God’s truth. Satan presents sin to us as something pleasing to be desired, and he achieves this through our emotions and justifications.
The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. (Revelations 12:9) Satan is the great deceiver, and he plays with our own justification, so they think we are obeying God. Do not give the devil a foothold. (Ephesians 4:27) Based on our own justification, Satan can get a foothold without our awareness.
People need to know the truth from the Word, or by default they will believe Satan’s lies. Satan is the one who keeps us away from reading and studying the Word. He feeds us with excuses: to many pages, difficult to understand, I don’t have the time, or I live for my fleshly desires. Satan wants us to think that he is good, truthful, loving, and powerful; otherwise how could he deceive people?
Darkness is a result of attempting to find truth without the Word of God. The only truth comes from the Word of God, and we need to tell people how to read the Word to overcome Satan’s lies. Christian need to know Satan’s lies and deceptions, in order to overcome the lies that people believe, so we can guide them to God’s truth.
This is why Satan’s masquerades as an angel of light is so effective. He turns light to darkness and darkness to light, and gets people believing that God is the source of darkness. Then, in their distress, they focus hatred towards the only One who can save them; and we can see this in the world today.
Today be aware of any foothold Satan may have, or any justification that may not be pleasing to God.
