Created for Hearts of Love
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:7-8
God is love and it is love that connects us to God. God loves us so much, that he sent Son to earth to teach us how to live the way God created us, and He died for our sins. God fills us with the Holy Spirit and the Father and the Son make their home with us. God loves so much that he does everything possible for us be with Him forever in Heaven, but He never takes away our free will. How can we love the Father and the Son without having free will?
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) No one on the earth loves us more than the Father and the Son. And God wants us in Heaven more than we want to be in Heaven, and he created us in His image so the commands in the Word will be fulfilling and natural to us. We are created to live in the image of God, and we do this by having the mind of Christ and having a heart filled with God’s love.
But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:44) We love all people on the planet, but we hate the lies the Satan feeds them. When we love all people, especially people close to us, then we will hate Satan’s evil more. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) We love people and we hate the lies and deceptions that people believe, causing them to do evil. Satan goal is to turn the light of God into darkness, and the darkness of Satan into the angel of light.
As Christians we have the Word of God to prove the light of God and the darkness of Satan; and we bring the Truth to people from the Word. Satan deceives many people in this world by having them live for their fleshly desires, which is a strong temptation. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:6-8) Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. (Romans 8:14-15)
We are created in the image of God with hearts of love, and we are governed by Christ through the Spirit. Then God fills our souls with blessing of love, peace, joy, comfort, and whatever He knows we need; and these blessings are permanent and they stronger the closer we are to Christ; and these blessing are more fulfilling than anything from the world.
Today ask Christ to guide you so your heart will continue being filled with more of God’s love. The more love we have in our hearts the closer we are to the Father and the Son, and the more we desire to serve Christ.
Prayer: Father, fill my heart with your love more each day as I serve Christ. In Jesus name, Amen
