Spiritual Gifts from God

Posted on

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,

1 Corinthians 13:2

God gives us spiritual gifts, after our heart is motivated to minister to others, especially those who don’t know Christ. We don’t just sit around at home waiting for God to given spiritual gifts, because only God gives us our spiritual gifts.

The more we read the Word, and the more we pray, and the more we use our spiritual gifts, the better we can use our spiritual gifts. We need to be patient, because we have to show God our heart for bringing people to Christ
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. (1 Peter 10-11) All spiritual gifts come from God, and we prove to God that we use our spiritual gift for glory to God through Jesus Christ.

All the glory goes to God and not to self, otherwise how can we be humble? He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. (Psalm 15:9) If we take credit for our good deeds for God, it begins to make us prideful. A humble heart does everything for God, and we refuse to take credit for our good deeds, because it all comes through Christ.

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (James 4:6) We serve Christ with a humble heart, we give glory to God, and the more we are blessed by being closer to God and to Christ. The closer we are to Christ the more divine peace and joy God gives us.

Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, (Psalm 104:1) When we compare ourselves to God, we all sinners because we cannot be perfect like God and Christ; and we never desire to take credit for our good deeds from God, because we desire to give glory to God. The more glory we give to God, the more love, peace, and joy we have.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:13) Whatever we do in this earthly life we give glory to God through Christ, and all our spiritual gifts come from God and our spiritual gifts are enabled by Christ. All glory goes to God, because everything we do comes from God.

Today whatever you do for the Lord give God and Christ the glory and never give glory to self. We are sinners because we can never be perfect as we live on earth.

Prayer: Lord help me to always give God the glory, because his blessings are more powerful than giving glory to our self. In Jesus name, Amen
