Satan Speaks Through the Flesh
In which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
Ephesians 2:2
Since Satan is the ruler of the air, he interfaces to us through the flesh. Satan knows human weaknesses, and his demons observe people to see their weakness. Satan is a master at getting a foothold in our life and he knows the power of our own justification.
The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) Christians have their thoughts governed by the Spirit and they capture every thought to the obedience of Christ. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) We develop will power to capture and demolish every sinful thought to the obedience of Christ.
Christians are given the power of God to control their thinking, and if we continue to capture our thoughts, the brain will rewire. When tempted say, “I am controlled by the Spirit;” and when a sinful thought occurs, see it coming from Satan who is trying to destroy you, both in this life and for eternity. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23)
God will change our thinking and when we obey his Word by being light in this world, he changes our heart. When he changes our heart and fills it with his unconditional love, we are changed! You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16) Our hearts change when we become a light in this world by telling people about Christ. If we don’t capture sinful thoughts, how can our hearts change if our minds never renew?
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) Our minds change when we change our thoughts from the pattern of the world to the ways of God. If our thoughts never change, then we may never change. We need to stop listening to Satan and listen to the Spirit, especially when tempted. Satan tempted Jesus by twisting scripture, but Jesus overcame with the truth of scripture, and Satan left.
Today, capture every thought to the obedience of Christ, and recognize all sinful thoughts coming from Satan who is trying to destroy you and kill your eternal life. Know that you are never tempted beyond what you can bear with the power of Christ. So, when tempted call on Christ for His power.
Prayer: Lord, help me overcome sinful thoughts coming from Satan and to live in the Lord’s power to overcome. Let me always control my thoughts through your divine power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
