The Bread of Life

Posted on

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

John 6:35

Jesus tells us that when we come to Him, we will never grow hungry or thirsty. In this world, we need food and water, later we are hungry again, and we need more food and water. The people Jesus was talking to were thinking in the physical because Jesus was using the physical as an analogy for the spiritual.  Jesus continually feeds our souls through the Spirit therefore our souls is never hungry or thirsty.

Our eternal, spiritual soul is our personality, our beliefs, thoughts and emotions; our soul can only be satisfied by God who continually feeds our soul with His love, peace, and joy.  Our soul was created to be with God for eternity, therefore temporary things of the world can never satisfy our eternal souls. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6) Christ is our life and our spiritual heart is filled with love, peace, and joy from Heaven. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) Only Christ can give us life to the full meaning our souls are filled with love, peace, joy, and all the blessings from Heaven.

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) To be filled with the bread of life, our mind must be governed by the Spirit. We are ambassadors for Christ; therefore, it is normal to keep our minds on things above. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. (Colossians 3:2) Heaven is our eternal destination which is our home with the Father and the Son, and this temporary life is like a vapor. It is normal to keep our focus toward Heaven.  Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14)

Live for eternal life; this life is temporary. Feed on the bread of life from Christ and start your eternal life now. Once we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we have started our eternal life. The Lord has made it possible for us to live in the Kingdom that is within us with the ability to overcome the world. Everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) This world is our temporary home and we have faith in Christ to overcome the sinful nature that Satan brings to the world.

Today, feed on the bread of life that only comes from the Lord.  Know that only God can fully satisfy your soul by feeding you blessings from Heaven.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for guiding me to live in the Kingdom where there is love, peace, and joy. Guide me to reflect the love and joy in my life so I can tell others it comes from Heaven. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
