Release Your Faith

Posted on

But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

James 2:18

James is telling us that faith without works is really not faith because our faith is shown by our works. Faith trusts the Lord, knowing he is with us as we go into the world reflecting Christ, telling them about salvation and forgiveness.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20) This is the divine calling for every Christian: to reveal Christ, first to family, then God’s people, and then to people who don’t know Christ. Whatever we do during the day, we show Christ-like behavior through kindness, encouragement, and listening.

Our faith is strengthened when we help others, because it is rewarding and fulfilling to us. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16) We are to let the light of Christ shine in us every day. When we strive to do this, life is meaningful. We are in a good mood and life is better.

We show Christ by being interested in others, as shown by listening and sharing encouraging and uplifting comments whenever possible. When we reflect Christ, we reflect a loving, caring heart just as Jesus did. Jesus reflected a caring, compassionate heart for everyone including those suffering from physical illness, the demon possessed, or the spiritually lost. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossian 3:12) How can we show love without the characteristics in this verse?

We are created in the image of God and that means ministering to others is the most rewarding thing we can do. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) The Lord renews our mind, by rewiring our brains to the ways of God, and we become the person God created us to be. But Satan is always trying to change our thinking to the ways of the world, to be self-centered making ourselves our own gods.

Today, make life rewarding by releasing your faith, reflecting Christ to everyone. Whenever possible offer to help others when the need arises. As much as possible, make yourself available to help others.

Prayer: Lord, help me to release my faith by following the Holy Spirit. To reflect the love and care just as Jesus did. In Jesus name, Amen
