The Power of God’s Love
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
John 4:16
The power we have from the Lord is his love. Through his love we minister to others, we overcome sin, we overcome fear, and we overcome the world. Love changes our heart, taking focus off self and placing it on Christ and others.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20) When our focus is on living for Christ we live with his power in us. If you love me, you will obey my commandments. (John 14:15) Love motivates us to please the Lord by doing his will, and love is the foundation of our endurance, strength, and wisdom. The more love we have for the Lord the more we will understand his Word, and the power of his Word.
Love is the power within us because God is love and he gives us his power through his love in us. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. (1 John 4:18) As the Lord’s love increases in our hearts, fear naturally decreases, because God’s love drives out fear. Fear comes from Satan who wants us to fear life and it’s not the healthy fear that protects us from danger. Overcoming unhealthy fear is victory over Satan.
The love we have in our hearts for the Lord and for others takes away our fear, thereby increasing our desire and courage to serve the Lord; even to death as many people are doing today. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) Love from God comes to us through the Spirit who gives us the power to overcome fear with a sound mind. A sound mind and with fear disappearing, gives us the love to serve the Lord with a heart that has overcome the world.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mankind do to me? (Psalm 188:6) The Lord is with us and heaven is our home; what do have to fear? The Lord will give us his strength to endure whatever we have to endure, just as the Father gave Jesus the strength to endure the cross.
Today fill your heart with the Lord’s love and watch as fear from Satan leaves. When the power of the Lord is in us, Satan flees carrying his fear with him. Today stand strong in the Lord and live in his divine power.
Prayer: Lord thank you for giving power of Satan and help me to use your power to overcome the world. Guide me to be a light for Christ in this world, combating Satan’s lies with the power of your truth. In Jesus name, Amen
