Fight Satan through Prayer
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14
We normally fight Satan in our own life to overcome temptation, but how do help others fight Satan’s lies? We are supposed to be a light on a hill for others to see. As Satan becomes more influential in society more people will believe his lies, especially if the light for Christ is not on the hill.
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2) We pray for all people, especially for God’s people and for those in authority. There is power in limiting Satan’s influence through prayer because God has control over Satan. For those we minister to, for Christians all over the world, and for those in authority, prayer is essential for fighting Satan.
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6) If we really have faith in God, we will pray where we know Satan is attacking. Trust the Lord through intercessory prayer for all God’s people and for people everywhere. Let your light shine for Christ with much prayer, and don’t limit your prayer because God has no limitations.
We pray for God’s control over Satan and to soften hearts to receive Christ. It is important to know where Satan is attacking so we can pray for a specific person or situation. The more we know where and who Satan is attacking, and the more people that pray, the more powerful the prayer.
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6) We fight Satan by being a light for Christ wherever we go and whatever we are doing; this is living as Jesus lived. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5:16) The more we live for Christ the more powerful our prayers.
Today fight Satan through prayer and be a light for Christ. Prayer is needed to be a light for Christ, and being a light for Christ is needed for power in our prayers.
Prayer: Lord, guide me in prayer and for ministering to everyone, so I can fight Satan with your power and help me to always trust you. In Jesus’ name, Amen
