Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

Colossians 1:11-12

What do we do when life gets difficult and the future looks dim? What does God have to say that will help us persevere? Many people face difficult challenges in life, and some challenges make take a long time overcome.

If we go through life depending on the Lord to be with us, he will guide us through our difficult times, but it takes patience and faith. Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. (Colossians 12:11-12) When Christ is with us, he will give us strength and courage to go through anything including physical death, because we know Heaven is our home. The more we praise and thank God for our eternal home the more peace and joy we can experience, and knowing Heaven is our home, gives peace and joy to our last breath.

Our heart is filled with love and compassion which motivates us to help people and bring them to Christ. Life continues to become more fulfilling as we minster to others and become closer to the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. (Colossians 3:23) Life then becomes less of self and more about God and others, which drives us bring people to Christ, which helps us to persevere.

Today fill your heart with God’s love and compassion and do everything as working for the Lord. And whatever you are doing be a light for Christ, pointing people to Christ at every opportunity, because that will help us to persevere.

Prayer: Help me to always put my hope in Christ as he guides me through this day. Give me strength to persevere, and with motivation to serve Christ.
