Overcome Satan’s Temptations
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
1Corinthians 10:13
From the above verse the Lord will not let each person be tempted beyond what they can bear. We have the power of the Lord to overcome every temptation from Satan., which means we have divine power over Satan. Now we just have to control our own sinful will, which is driven by our emotion.
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith. (1 Peter 5:8-9) The key to overcoming Satan’s attacks, is to be self-controlled and alert so we can avoid Satan’s temptations. We capture every thought to the obedience of Christ, because if don’t the sinful desire will take root in our hearts.
Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. (James 1:15) We give birth to a sinful thought until our emotion causes it to be conceived in the mind; and after justifying our thought it gives birth to sin which leads to death. All sin is against God, and without forgiveness to overcome, can lead us to eternal death.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) This verse is key in overcoming Satan’s attacks, and we fight sin with an attitude of victory and with the power of scripture, just as Jesus did when tempted by the devil. We have to fight back quickly, because we can easily justify our own sinful will. We have the desire to please the Father rather than feed our own sinful desire.
Today know God has give us the power to overcome Satan’s temptations. We fight temptation by controlling our emotions and our thoughts, making them pleasing to God.
Prayer: Lord give me your divine power to overcome Satan’s temptations, and to live in victory over sin.
