All Things for Good

Posted on

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Do we realize the power of this scripture? This scripture tells us that whatever happens to us in this life, God will use it for our good. How does God make all things good for us, when all things include both good and bad things in life? This promise is available for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. This means we love the Lord and we seek to obey his will through the Holy Spirit. If you love me, keep my commands (1 John 14:15). How does this promise from God affect our faith?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). If we know God will work all things for our good, then it will help us to fully trust the Lord and lean not on our own understanding. This verse implies that whatever we pray for, God will always answer it for our good. Plus, if we trust his goodness he will make our paths straight.

Living in God’s straight path means we are traveling down the center line of the narrow road of life, and Satan is defeated in his attempt to detour us to the broad road of destruction. This is the power of the verse (Proverbs 3:5-6), because our faith pleases God, we trust God with all our hearts, and the spiritual blessings will overwhelm us with His love, peace, joy, and thankfulness. Our faith which includes love, peace, joy, and thankfulness continues to increase until our last breath because we are becoming more Christ-like.

Remember Romans 8:28 when you are praying and especially when you are going through difficult times. This is a promise of God and he wants us to know his love by assuring us that he will make all things good. Let this increase your love for the Lord and increase your trust in him. The more we trust the Lord and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance, being a light for Christ in this world, the more love, peace, and joy fills our hearts. When we believe God’s promises and live for him, we live life to the full.

Today, remember Romans 8:28 and bring it to mind whenever you need it. Increase your faith by learning that God is faithful to all of his promises. If there was anything in your life that the Lord couldn’t get you through, then he wouldn’t ask you to have faith. Live today knowing that whatever happens God will use it for your good. Remember to reflect his love, because it demonstrates not only your love for the Lord but that you are called according to his purpose.

Prayer: Lord, open my heart to fully live by your promises. Fill my heart with your love and help me to reflect your love through kindness, patience, forgiveness, and compassion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
