Live for Christ

Posted on

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Colossians 3:4

Christ is our life as he guides us through the Holy Spirit for every minute of each day. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) The more we know the Word, the more we can be guided by Christ through the Spirit. But we must put Christ’s will over our own will, because if we don’t, we will be living partially by our own truth.

For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3) This verse implies we die to our self-will, and exchange it for the will of Christ. That is the way we are created to live, guided by God because we are created in his image. Even with our sinful nature of our flesh, we seek to always be guided by Christ being a Light of Truth in this world.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John10:10) Life to the full only comes when we live as God created us, guided by Christ to point people to Heaven. Life to the full will never be experienced when life is centered on self. We are supposed to have the mind of Christ, so we closely examine the life of Jesus. Jesus never did a miracle for himself, but always did the Father’s will. This is an example for our life, which is centered on doing the will of Christ.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1) When we live for Christ, He sets us free, and we can only be free when we are free from self. Our life is centered on serving Christ, and bringing God’s truth to lost souls, and this is life to the full.
Today seek to reflect Christ to everyone and use the Word of God in your conversation, because that is where the power comes from.

Prayer: Father, help me to always serve Christ as my Lord, and to put his divine will over my will. In Jesus name, Amen
