Our Relationship to God

Posted on

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

2 Corinthians 5:17

God desires a close loving relationship with us, and the closer we are to Christ, the closer we are to God the Father. To have a close loving relationship with Christ, we first we need to desire a close relationship.

Love in our hearts is what connects to Christ, because God is love. A heart of love gives us a deep understanding of Christ, especially when we read the Word. The more we read the Word, the more we obey the Word, and the more we depend on the Lord to be with use. Love is the foundation of the Christian life.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5) When we minister to other people we need Christ with us, because he gives us scriptures and words that the other person needs to hear. We depend on Christ being with us, because we desire to bring others to Christ.

The more we seek to help others and tell them about salvation through Christ, the more love God puts in our hearts, because love motivates to serve Christ and help others. Since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:24) We serve Christ and ask for Him to open doors for us to bring Christ to people, and when God puts something on our hearts, we do it, and we need Christ with us.

The greatest thing in life is having a close loving relationship with Christ, just as the apostle Paul had. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21) Paul’s life was to serve Christ with a close loving relationship, and he was willing to die to be with Christ. The closer we Christ, and the more we depend on Christ, the more we desire to be with Christ in Heaven.

Today seek to be close to Christ through obedience and prayer. Come near to God and he will come near to you. (James 4:8).

Prayer: Father, help me and guide me to be closer to You and to Christ. Guide me in reading the Word and in prayer. In Jesus name, Amen
