Old Things Pass Away

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17

When we except Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are being molded to the person that God created us to be. We receive the Holy Spirit and the Word of God changes the way we think, changes our heart, and changes our life. We are blessed with a fulfilling life when we become the person God created us to be.  If we don’t overcome the pattern of our old life, then how can all things become new? God changes the learned behavior of our past to the new behavior in Christ. Our personality doesn’t change, except it reflects the mind, action, and behavior of Jesus.

But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life. (John 4:14) The living water represents the blessing form Heaven that feed our soul continuously, and get stronger as we get closer to the Lord. Example of these blessings are: love, peace, joy, confidence, contentment, patience, kindness, self-control, etc.  The Lord feeds us these blessings because it frees us from things of the world and draws us closer to things of Heaven. These blessings are more fulfilling than anything the world can offer.  We can never fully satisfy our soul through things of the world, only God can feed our soul with everlasting contentment.

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. (Philippians 4:12) The apostle Paul was content in every situation because the Lord fed his soul to overcome his tragic life.  If God will do this for Paul, he will do it for everyone who desires lasting contentment and prays for it. God is not a respecter of persons and he desires to bless everyone who serves Christ.

Becoming a new creation in Christ means old things pass away; and we may have old things that are difficult to pass away that keeps us from becoming a new creation in Christ. Finding old habits from the past that may affect becoming a new creation, can be difficult to notice because they can be engrained into our behavior. We always pray that the Lord will change us to become the person he created us to be.

Today don’t let anything in life, past present or future; keep you from becoming a new creation in Christ. Live as new creation in Christ today, because the Lord is molding us to be like Jesus till our last breath.

Prayer:  Lord keep changing me to be the person you created, and to be more like Jesus. Keep changing me until my last breath. In Jesus name, Amen
