Love From God
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:7
The highest form of love comes to us from God, and it is called agape love. Agape is a sacrificial love that voluntarily suffers inconvenience, discomfort, and even death for the benefit of another without expecting anything in return. This is the love that Christ demonstrated when he went to the cross for our sins.
Agape love is a sacrificial love that puts God and others first in all things. Sacrificial love is realized in our life when we follow the Spirit. We always follow the guidance of the Spirit, and we sacrifice our schedule because our hearts are filled with God’s sacrificial love. And we are blessed when our hearts are filled with God’s agape love.
Agape love changes us from being self-centered, to become God and others centered. Life is now about God and others, and we now free of self, and we are free in Christ. We are now living as God created us to live, and we are living life to the full. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) If we are self-centered, we are following Satan, but when we experience life to the full, we are God and others centered.
Agape love is unconditional, which means we love everyone on the planet, but we hate the lies and deception that comes from Satan. He will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. deception that he brought into the world. (Revelation 20:8) What we hate is sin and Satan’s lies and deceptions.
Today reflect God’s agape love to others, and remember God’s love is unconditional for people, but he hates sin. So, hate the sin but show love to the person.
Prayer: Lord fill my heart with your unconditional, sacrificial love; and guide me in the Spirit to reflect your love to others. In Jesus name, Amen
