Living in the Family of God

Posted on

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

1 John 3:1-2

We are born of God when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and receive the Holy Spirit, and we are now living in God’s family. We have a perfect Father who loves us more than we can imagine, and He and his Son are always with us, guiding us through life so we stay on the narrow road to Heaven.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10) Those in God’s family are given strength to endure anything in life because He upholds us in his righteous right hand.  God can do all things as he carries us through life to our eternal home. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28) Our eternal life is secure because no one can snatch us out of the Lord’s hand.

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3) For those in God’s family; the Father protects us from the evil one, and we will never be tempted beyond what we can bear. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) It’s important to remember that we will never be tempted beyond what we can bear, and the Lord will provide us with and escape. When tempted we must call upon the Lord for his power and guidance to escape.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) The Holy Spirit lives in the believer and the fruit of the Spirit can continuously feed our soul. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7) The peace that continually fills our soul transcends understanding because it only comes form God. There is nothing in the world that can continually feed our soul except the blessings of God we receive through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Today remember you are living in the family of God, and he will protect you and guide you through your day. Ask for the Lord’s guidance and wisdom as you reflect Christ to everyone.

Prayer: Lord let me never forget that I am in your divine family, and that I will never be tempted beyond what I can bear.  In Jesus name, Amen
