Live for What is Unseen

Posted on

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:18

When we live each day fixing our eyes on what is unseen, eternal life, we will live each day serving he Lord who guides us home. When our eyes are fixed on eternity as opposed to having eyes fixed on this temporary life, we will live with more peace, joy, and divine purpose. Also living for eternity, we focus more on things above, and we are more aware of obeying the Lord.

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12) We take hold of eternal life, because that is what we live for and it will motivate us serve the Lord and tell others about salvation through Christ.  Living for eternity in our minds will change the focus of our life, from the world to eternity in Heaven. We can live this life with eternity always present in our subconscious mind and often in our conscious mind.

Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval. (John 6:27) We live for food that endures to eternal life and not for food that spoils. We live serving Christ who supplies all our needs to endure this life into eternal life.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14) In your mind picture the pure light of God glowing at the end of the narrow road, and each day we approach a little closer to the light. This mental picture can help us keep on the narrow road, it keeps us in the Word, in prayer, and serving Christ, because that makes the light at the end of the narrow road brighter.

Today give thought to your permanent home and remember this life is like a vapor, here for awhile then gone. Heaven is our home and the we fix our eyes on what is unseen, then we will live for eternity.

Prayer:  Lord thank you for eternal life made possible through the cross. Guide me in the Spirit to live for eternity. In Jesus name, Amen
