Everyone Lives Forever

As the body without the spirit is dead,

James 2:26

Only the body dies but we remain alive forever, because life is in our spirit. Our spirit is our thoughts, personality and will, and we live forever. Where we will live forever is dependent on how we live our short earthly life.

If we live serving Christ and we let him change our hearts, we will live in Heaven with a new body on a new earth. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. (1 Corinthians 15:51-52) If we live not serving Christ but living for our fleshly desires, Heaven will not be our home.

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) We shouldn’t be afraid when our body dies, because our soul leaves the body and we are alive. When Christ returns, we get a new younger perfect body that lives forever. What we fear is false teaching that can pull is away from God, or our own justification can pull us away from God.

Knowing we live forever can help us to be eternally minded, and this life is one and only chance to serve Christ who leads us to eternal life. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. (John 16:13) Christ leads us through the Spirit, guiding us through life and into eternity. We live by faith to follow Christ through our life.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Roman 6:23) Living in sin is eternal death with Satan and his demons, however with the Holy Spirit we overcome living in sin, but we cannot be perfect. Christ lived in this world using no divine power for his own physical life, so he understands the struggles and temptations we endure in this life. Therefore, we have forgiveness through Christ, and he intercedes for us to the Father.

Today remember you live forever, and this life is the only chance we have to live for eternity. And where we go after the flesh dies is our choice.

Prayer:  Lord help me to always live for eternity and this life is my only chance to live pleasing You. In Jesus name, Amen
