Live for What is Unseen

Posted on

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:18

Life on this world is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. When the body dies, our soul and spirit remain alive forever, and when Christ returns, we get a new younger body that lasts forever. Many people that don’t know the Word think when they die its over, but when the body dies, we step into eternity.

Do we live for eternity, or do we live for this short earthly life? It’s easy to live for this life, but we live for eternity by reading the Word, praying, having a church family, and bringing people to Christ. And we live for Christ, and we get baptized, then we have the Spirit of God living within us, and now we can live for eternity in Heaven.

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:17) The closer we are to Christ the more this world seems less like home, because the desires of the world pass away. Our focus in on obeying Christ and the Word, and bringing people to Christ, because most people in this world are living for their short earthly life.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (1 John 5:13) We know God and Christ through reading and living by the Word, and asking Christ to be with us at all times. And through the Spirit Christ speaks to us by placing thoughts in our mind through the Spirit. If we are still on the inside we will be convicted of sinful thoughts, and blessed by serving Christ. We will feel peace and joy when serving Christ and telling other about eternal life, and we will feel guilty when we think about sinful things.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24) We pray that the Lord will control our thoughts, words, and actions; and that he leads us down the narrow road to Heaven. When pray for the Lord’s guidance with a surrendered heart, and the Lord will answer our prayer.

Today commune with the Lord and read and obey the Word.

Prayer: Lord, search my heart and guide me down the narrow road to Heaven. In Jesus name, Amen
