Light of the World
Once again, Jesus spoke to the people and said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life." When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
John 8:12
We are a light of the World because we follow Jesus, and reflect his love, kindness, and wisdom to everyone. The light in us comes from Christ being with us through the Holy Spirit. We reflect the light by caring about others, with kindness and patients.
We show the light with our words, our attitude, inviting people to church, or handing our Biblical literature. We always remember that we are light for Christ, and we are on guard because Satan is trying to take us into the darkness of sin. For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. (Ephesians 5:8) Before we accept Christ we lived in the darkness if sin, but through the Holy Spirit we are now light of the world. And Satan can see the light of Christ in us, and the light gives us divine power over Satan.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:115) We are guided down the narrow road toward he light of God at the end; which is Heaven. We continue closer to the light of Heaven every day, and further from the darkness of Satan. The closer we are to the light of God the more divine power we have to overcome the sinful world.
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6) Light takes away darkness, but darkness cannot take away light, and God through Christ we have light in our hearts, which is the knowledge of the glory of God’s Word. The power we have comes from God through his Word, and the more we know the Word the more power we have, and the more we know God.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7) With God’s love in our hearts the more we understand the heart and emotions of God, because we are moving closer to the same heart and emotions as we become more like Jesus. The more we become like Jesus, the brighter the light of Christ is us.
Today know you are a light in this this world, and let the light shine with kindness and patients. And don’t let Satan pull you into darkness.
Prayer: Father, help me to reflect the light of Christ, and keep Satan’s temptations away. In Jesus name, Amen
