Life is a Mist
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
James 4:14
Life on earth is very short, and when our body dies our soul and spirit lives forever. After the body dies, we step into eternity, and where we go depends on our life on earth.
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28) Our soul and spirit live forever, and our body is a temple because the Holy Spirit of God lives in us. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Our purpose on this earth is to become a new creation. We become a new creation when we have repentant heart and get baptized; and we are now a new creation because the Holy Spirit of God now lives within us.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15) And a new creation we seek to follow Christ and be a witness to others about salvation through Christ. We are now living as God created us, and it is the most fulfilling life we can on this earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) Since we are created in the image of God, obeying the Word will become natural and desirable to us. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) The fruit of the Spirit is what makes a Christian a new creation.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14) We are a light for Christ within the church and outside the church. But in some parts of the world, we are light within the church, because Satan has turned the world against Christians. But the world can kill the body, but they cannot touch our soul and spirit which lives forever.
Today be a light for Christ and live by the fruit of the Spirit.
