Let Temptations Drive You to Christ
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
Whenever we are tempted by Satan, let it be a trigger to run to the Lord for his power to overcome. Our goal is to defeat Satan every time he attacks our thoughts and emotions. Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:14) We are promised to never be tempted beyond what we can bear, and we need a way to escape the temptation. We have power over Satan, now we need power to over come self.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (Matthew 6:13) The best way to overcome temptation is to pray that the Lord guides us away from temptations. If we are conscious of what we see, hear, and where we go, it will help avoid temptations. If we slow down inside and avoid impatience, it will help us control our emotions, because Satan typically attacks us through our emotions. When our emotions are triggered, we need self-control to run to the Lord for peace. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16) The more we keep our thoughts on things above the more we can live in the power of God, because the power comes from God. When our thoughts are connected to the Lord, the less we will be tempted by Satan, and the more we can control our emotions. We let Satan’s temptations lead us to the Lord, for His power to overcome thoughts and emotions. We memorize scriptures that speak power into our hearts.
Today stay connected to the Lord as much as possible, and pray for the Lord to avoid temptations. If tempted let it trigger you to speak scripture and call on the Lord for His power. With the Lord’s power you can be assured of victory and great satisfaction in defeating Satan.
Prayer: Thank you for your promise that I will never be tempted beyond what can bear. Help me to find the escape from temptation that depends on your power working in my life. Thank you for your many blessings that carrying me through life. In Jesus name, Amen
