Godly Wisdom
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
James 1:5
God gives us wisdom, but we have to define Godly wisdom, and learn to use Godly wisdom. If our emotions take control of us, we may forget Godly wisdom, and speak with anger. Christians should remain in control because our identity in Christ and not in people, we must be still inside, and we always listen and respond with Godly wisdom.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:1O) We must be still inside and ask Christ for wisdom when we need wisdom. We also need wisdom from the Word, and we need to memorize scriptures if we seek to walk with wisdom.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. (James 3:17-18) How can we have Godly wisdom without patience and knowing God’s definition of wisdom. And how can we show Godly wisdom unless we are still inside and have control of our emotions?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) If we reflect the fruit of the Spirit we will show wisdom, because the fruit of the Spirit enables us to slow down and speak to others with Godly wisdom from a heart of love.
How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight than silver. (Proverbs 26:16) Speaking with Godly wisdom is something that every Christian needs to have. Look at the words Jesus spoke, and God is molding us to the mind of Christ.
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, (James 1:19) If we are to speak with Godly wisdom, we need to listen to others before we speak, because wisdom is our response.
Today be quick to listen a slow to speak, and speak with Godly wisdom with scriptures.
Prayer: Lord, help me to speak with wisdom and to memorize scriptures. In Jesus name, Amen
