God Knows What We Need
“Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
Matthew 6:8
God know all things and he knows us better than we know ourselves. It’s a great blessing that God knows us and that the Spirit intercedes for us. Sometimes we know what we need, but only God always knows what we really need and how to change us. God’s goal is to make us more like Jesus. Since he knows exactly what we need, we just need the faith to follow his guidance through the Spirit.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27) The Spirit guides us in accordance with God’s will. If we seek to follow the Spirit with the faith to do whatever Christ tells us, then we will become more like Jesus.
If we seek to be like Jesus in our own power, it will be difficult if not impossible. When we seek to follow the Spirit, we will be walking in Christ’s guidance and we can walk in his power. We must have an open heart to change to be more like Jesus. This is a process that extends throughout our live until our last breath. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20) Always pray to walk in the Lord’s power and wisdom, otherwise we may be limited to our power. There is difference when we walk in the Lord’s power and seek his intercession with our thoughts, words, and attitude.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20) This verse, written by the apostle Paul, tells about true faith. This is how we are to live because it brings freedom in Christ and divine guidance by Christ. We live in the power and wisdom through Christ.
Today, trust the Lord because he knows what you need to serve him. Ask for his guidance and he will give you what you need in every situation in life. He will use anything and everything to make us more like Jesus. Seek to be a light to everyone.
Prayer: Lord, guide me today to live in your love and power. Guide me to be a light for Christ in everything I do today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
