God Knows Us

Posted on

You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

Psalm 139:1-3

No one knows us better than God. This is a blessing because we can trust God to change us based on his perfect knowledge of what we need to become more like Jesus. God knows exactly how to change us; if we pray for his guidance, He will change us and we will spiritually grow closer to the Lord.

The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7) Our hearts are revealed by our thoughts, and the Lord knows every thought we have. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) It’s important that we capture every thought because our thoughts define our hearts, and our motivation to serve the Lord.  We can deceive people but we can never deceive God.

For it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”  (1 Peter 1:16) God is perfectly Holy and we are called to be Holy which means we reflect Christ in all situations. God knows when we are unholy, whether it’s in thought, word, or deed.  Therefore, it is important that we strive to be Holy and pray for the Lord’s divine power to make us Holy. If our hearts are filled with God’s love, it will help us to be Holy because we live out of our hearts.

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (Isaiah 54:10) We can fully trust the Lord because of His unfailing love for us, and the blessing that he always knows exactly what we need to endure this earthly life. We know the Lord is always with us and we know he will give us whatever we need to live for Him to our last breath.

Today, remember the Lord knows your every thought, word, and deed.  Capture every thought and reflect Jesus in everything you do. Ask for the Lord’s help in being Holy.

Prayer: Lord, you know me better than I know myself. I pray that you give me whatever I need today to reflect Jesus and tell people about Christ.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
