God is Truth – Satan is Lies
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
Matthew 7:13-14
All those on the broad road are living in Satan’s lies because they never take the time to find the narrow road. There are many on the broad road because it is easy to live by the way of the world, seeking money, power, possessions, etc. These things temporarily satisfy the flesh, but they never permanently satisfy our souls. Only Christ can permanently satisfy our souls with blessings from Heaven that continuously feed our souls.
The spiritual war is between living in Satan’s lies or living in God’s truth. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44) Christians know God’s truth and we fight off Satan’s lies with the power of God.
When we bring the truth to those on the broad road, Christ will guide us through the Spirit who gives us the truth. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13) The Spirit opens the Word to us and guides us in God’s truth.
Satan and his demons monitor our behavior therefore they know just how to tempt us. His goal is to deceive us by triggering our justification. And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. (Revelation 12:9 NASB) Satan knows the Word and he knows our weaknesses; therefore, he has all the information he needs to deceive us. Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14)
We have the power of Christ to know Satan’s lies through deception. There are many Christians that have been deceived giving Satan a foothold in their life. Satan has deceived churches, making them more worldly and less holy. Jesus answered: Watch out that no one deceives you. (Matthew 24:4) Christians know God’s truth and we recognize when Satan is trying feed us his lies through deception. Satan never gives up and he is always seeking to deceive us with his lies. So to keep Satan away, keep your thoughts on things above and reflecting Christ.
Today, know you are in a spiritual war, God’s truth versus Satan’s lies. Satan will try and control your emotions and your self-will to get a foothold. We have to be alert and recognize when Satan is tempting us and call on the Lord for the power of Truth.
Prayer: Lord, help me to live by your Truth and not the way of the world. Keep my thoughts on serving you and keep my emotions under your control. I pray the Spirit will convict me when I start to yield to Satan’s lies. In Jesus’ name, Amen
