Let God be Your Judge

Posted on

But to me it is a very small thing that I may be examined by you, or by any human court; in fact, I do not even examine myself. For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord.

1 Corinthians 4:3-4

Paul is stating that God is the one he depends on to judge him; to examine him. We have the Lord as our judge because everything we do in life to glorify God, and we cannot glorify God unless he is content with our heart. We cannot accurately judge ourselves because we are naturally biased, meaning we cannot see ourselves as others see us, and how God sees us.

I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. (John17:4) Jesus lived on earth, and everything he did was to glorify the Father. Our goal is to do everything to glorify Christ. We pray each day that the Spirit will guide us such that everything thought, word, and action glorifies the Lord. We are not perfect but if we ask for divine guidance it shows that hearts desires to always glorify the Lord.

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. (Philippines 2:6-7) Jesus came from Heaven to earth and made himself nothing; becoming a servant to the mankind. Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. (John 5:19) These verses are a model for us, to become a servant and we can do nothing without Christ.  We are to have the same attitude as Jesus; Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus: (Philippians 2:5) If Jesus became a servant, then we should become a servant of Christ, and this attitude should be in our hearts. We view serving Christ as a great blessing, and a serving heart lives with the Father being their judge.

Today live to glorify Christ and seek judgment from the Lord by letting Him guide you through the day. When we are guided by Christ we live with love, wisdom, and power of God in us. We strive to reflect the heart of Christ more each day.

Prayer: Lord my heart desires to be the Lord’s servant and for Christ to be my judge, always guiding me to glorify the Father and the Son. Thank you for always being with me and guiding through life to my eternal home. In Jesus name, Amen
