Love Never Fails
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
1 John 4:7
In 1 Corinthians 13, each of the first three verses pairs a work of man with the phrase do not have love. The key to a love that never fails is the word have. Having love implies love is active. From Ephesians 2:8-9, we see we are not saved by doing good works, but we are created to do good works. Love is the motivation for doing the will of God.
All love comes from God and God is love. Love exists on earth because we are created in the image of God. We see love in Jesus as he walked the earth as a servant and took our sins to the cross. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:9-10) God’s love is the primary characteristic of our life.
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4:12) To have love that changes our spiritual hearts, God fills our heart with his love making us complete. When we have love, Christ lives in us and we live as the Lord’s servant. Love never fails because God’s love lives in our hearts and it motivates us be a Light for Christ. Love never fails because it drives us to serve the Lord and victory is obeying the Lord’s perfect will.
The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7) When we have love, our hearts are filled with God’s love. The Lord looks at our hearts and is pleased when we are motivated by a heart of love. God is molding us to be like Jesus, so we will have a heart filled with God’s love.
Today, ask the Lord to fill your heart with his love. He will guide you to show love to others and love will grow in your heart. A heart filled with love creates a close relationship with Christ.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for creating me with a heart of love. Let your love grow in my heart and let love power over Satan’s evil. Love never fails because You are love. In Jesus name, Amen
