God Changes Us

Posted on

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

When we start walking with the Lord, our minds renew because our thinking changes. Our minds have to change from worldly thinking to Godly thinking; and how could we have the mind of Christ if our minds don’t change?

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (Philippians 4:8) From this verse the Lord is telling us how to think, because our mind wires according to our thinking.

The brain has the ability of neuroplasticity, which is the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, based on our thinking and experiences we have in life. If we change our thinking from worldly thinking to Godly thinking, the old worldly thinking begins to unwire and new Godly thinking begins wiring in our minds.

Our thoughts normally reflect what’s wired in our brains, however the mind can be controlled by the Holy Spirit, giving us the power of choice over what our brain and emotions. God created us with the ability to change the neural structure of our brains through the divine power of the Holy Spirit. From self-centeredness, to a mind of love and compassion.

“Recent brain research by Dr. Newberg at the University of Pennsylvania has documented that all forms of contemplative meditation were associated with positive brain changes—but the greatest improvements occurred when participants meditated specifically on a God of love. But here is the astonishing part. Not only does other-centered love increase when we worship a God of love, but sharp thinking and memory improve as well. In other words, worshipping a God of love actually stimulates the brain to heal and grow.”

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) God created us so our brains could be rewired through the Holy Spirit. There is nothing impossible for God, and he created us to be with him in Heaven. He has done everything possible so Heaven will our home, except change our freewill.

Today know God is renewing our minds throughout our life on earth; making us more like Jesus.

Prayer: Father, keep changing me to be more like Jesus every day of my life. In Jesus name, Amen
