Divine Power

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

Ephesians 3:20

Christ has given us power over Satan so we can live in victory. We need to see Satan’s temptations as sin, no matter what the temptation, we see it as sin against God. Satan tempts us in our weaknesses, and we know our weaknesses, but we must see all of Satan’s temptations as sin.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13) When we are tempted, immediately call on the Lord for his power to capture the thought and change the thought. Christ has total power over Satan, and we call on Christ for his power to make Satan flee and free us from the sinful thought.

Christians must control their thoughts, and we do this by communing with Christ throughout our days, and memorizing scripture. This may seem difficult, but with prayer and the desire to control our thoughts, the Lord will help us with his divine power. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12) We fight Satan with the power of Christ, and we show kindness to all people. We see all temptations coming from Satan, and fighting Satan is our Spiritual War; and we fight with the power of God.

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (Thessalonians 3:3) The Lord promises to strengthen and to limit Satan’s temptations. It’s our faith that we depend on Christ to free us form Satan temptations, no matter how desirable the sin appears to us. Remember all sin is against God, no matter how we view the sin from Satan.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (Ephesians 6:10) God has provided everything we need to overcome Satan’s attacks, and we call on Christ for victory. We capture the thought and call on Christ before the sinful temptation takes control of our emotion. Satan wants to control our emotion for his sinful purposes, but we let Christ control our emotions through prayer. If we cannot control our emotions, we are in serious trouble.

Today Lord help be to overcome any of Satan’s temptations, and control my emotions for your glory.
