Closer to Christ
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
The Christian life is a process of growing closer to the Lord and becoming more Christ-like until your last breath. We become more spiritual as we get closer to Christ, which makes serving Christ our fulltime desire. Spiritual growth comes as we seek to be closer to Christ.
Spiritual growth occurs as we become closer to Christ, and the closer we are to Christ the more we depend on Christ being with us. Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62) As we get closer to Christ we keep moving forward on the Narrow Road to Heaven. The only reason to look back is to see God’s faithfulness in our lives, so that we trust him more in the future.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) If we are seeking to be closer to the Lord, God will work all things for our good and for His glory. Knowing Christ is with us, and God works al things for good; we can live in victory and we know Heaven is our eternal home.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24) We do everything as doing it for the Lord, because we reflect Christ. If we seek to do everything as doing for the Lord, and seek to always reflect Christ, it will bring us closer to Christ.
Today seek to be closer to Christ, and seek to reflect Christ today.
Pray: Father, help me to be closer to Christ today and to reflect Christ. In Jesus name, Amen.
