Christ Gives us Power Over Satan

Posted on

And He summoned the twelve and began to send them out in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.

Mark 6:7

Jesus gave his apostles power over evil spirits and Christ is with us and we call on Christ when we are tempted by Satan and his demons. We have to overcome any evil desire we might have from Satan, and immediately call on Christ to take away the sinful temptation.

Satan knows our weakness, and he picks the time when we are most vulnerable to yield to his temptation, and Satan triggers our emotions to aide in his temptation. We call on Christ because he has total control over Satan and his demons; and we can experience victory.

Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. (James 14-15) We overcome Satan by being calm on the inside and responding with a selected scripture and calling on Christ. We need to quickly say a scripture and call on Christ before Satan temptation captures our emotions. We must have control over our emotion in virtually all situations, just as Jesus had total control over his emotions.

We are in spiritual war and we learn how to fight off Satan’s temptations. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21) To fully prepare is to always be thinking something good; helping others and telling them about salvation in Christ. We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. (1 John 5:18) God limits Satan’s temptations where each of us can overcome with the power of Christ.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2) We renew our minds by changing our thinking, we start thinking the ways of God and less sinful thinking, then the wiring of our minds begins to change. To help the mind rewire we attend a Church, read the word, pray, and help others. These will become a habit and as our mind rewires to the ways oof God, we have the desire to help others and bring them to Christ. God rewires our mind to the day we physically die.

Today know Christ has total power over Satan and his demons, and he wants to keep us from yielding to Satan.

Prayer: Lord, help me to renew my mind and to depend on Christ when Satan tempts me. In Jesus name. Amen
