Capture Every Thought

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.

Genesis 6:5

The verse above was God’s words just before he flooded the earth. Our thoughts are critically important because they reveal our hearts to God. Since Christ died for our sins, and when we accept Christ, we have the Holy Spirit. The Spirit enables us to control our thoughts, words, and emotions.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5) Whenever we have a sinful thought, we call on Christ to capture the thought. We change the thought to something pleasing to God, and we give thanks to Christ for enabling us to capture the thought.

When we have sinful thought, know it comes from Satan, and always call on Christ because he has total power over Satan. We always call on Christ to overcome sin, because his power is infinite over our power. When Satan attacks we must call on Christ immediately before our emotion takes control of us. Satan always uses our emotions against us, while Christ will use our emotions for his divine purpose. If Satan can control our emotions, then he has control over us.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20) This verse tells us the power of Christ we can have, if we call Christ whenever Satan attacks. Satan attacks our emotions, in effort to control our thoughts. It is critical that we capture every thought through the power of Christ, otherwise Satan will take control. Satan will do everything possible to keep us from calling on Christ.

Satan increases the desire of the sin in attempt to control our emotion. That is why we capture the though immediately, because the desire comes from our emotion. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. (James 1:14-15) All sin comes from Satan, and it is always easier to fight Satan than to fight self. It is very difficult overcome sin in our own power, how can we desire sin and the same time fight sin? It is much easier to fight Satan than to fight self.

Today take control of any sinful thoughts through the power of Christ. Always depend on Christ because he always faithful.

Prayer: Lord, give me your divine power to control my thoughts and my emotions. Guide me to reflect a heart of love and peace, and to reveal freedom in Christ. In Jesus name, Amen.
