Becoming Like Jesus

Posted on

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

1 John 2:6

We become like Jesus as God molds us to the mind of Christ. It is important to remember that God is continually molding us to be like Jesus. He wants us to be the person he created us to be. Satan will make us think contentment is impossible and that we can never please God. This is especially true when we first accept Christ as our Savior. The truth, however, is that when we accept Christ as our Savior we receive the Holy Spirit. This makes us God’s children and being in God’s family allows us to experience His love, peace, and joy. We are pleasing to God and the process of becoming more like Jesus leads us to an ever increasing amount of love, peace, and joy, until our last breath.

We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands (1 John 2:3). We start our Christian lives by accepting Christ as our Savior and we then fellowship and worship with our Christian family. We develop strong Christian friendships that help us to know Christ through worship, prayer, and the Word. We enjoy our Christian lives as we enjoy being with our Christian brothers and sisters, getting to know the Lord, and experiencing the love, peace, and joy that begins to fill our hearts. The Lord wants us to have joy in our hearts from the very first day of our Christian lives.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13). God fills our hearts with joy and peace as we start to trust him. It’s great that as we continue growing in our faith, the more joy and peace we experience. The longer we walk with the Lord, learning more about our Lord and serving him, the better life becomes through the Spirit. We are forever in this life developing more faith, love, peace, joy, confidence, wisdom, security, contentment, with less fear, anger, insecurity, and worry. Therefore, enjoy every day as you walk with the Lord and know that in the days to come this will increase more and more. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10). Christ brings us life to the full and life truly becomes fuller as we continue to become more like Jesus.

Today, enjoy your walk with the Lord, whether it’s your first day or your twentieth year. Know the Lord is with you from the very beginning of your walk with Him. Live today and every day to the fullest in Christ, knowing God is molding you to be more like Jesus.

Let’s Pray: Lord thank you for accepting me into your family. Lead me in the Spirit and help me to be your servant. Increase my faith to where I trust you in all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
