We are Light

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5: 13-15

We are light for Christ in this dark world because light overcomes darkness. Wherever we go, whatever we are doing, we reflect the Light of Christ. Does sometimes our light become dim or even go out? What makes our light go out and how to we kept the light always on?

Anytime we are not reflecting Christ our light is in danger of going out. Never let the fire in your heart go out. Keep it alive. Serve the Lord (Romans 12:11). How do we keep the fire in our heart going so the flame doesn’t burn out? It is essential to keep the fire going in our hearts which generates the Light of Christ in us. The light will always remain on when we realize that the main reason we exist is to be a light looking for lost souls in the darkness. When we find a lost soul we reveal the light of Christ praying the Spirit turns on their light. The more we seek the Lord in finding lost souls in the darkness, the brighter our light shines.

How do we get the light turned on? There are lukewarm Christians whose light is always dim. It is our motivation to search for lost souls living in the darkness that turns on the light. The more we search for opportunities to minister to lost souls, the more the Spirit opens doors for us; and the more the Spirit motivates us to minister to people. The more we reflect God’s love and compassion to others, the more the Lord fills our heart with his love and compassion which ignites the fire in our heart.

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation (Mark 16:25). Since God wants his people to proclaim the gospel to the world, then he must have designed us for this divine mission. Personally I find ministering to lost souls the most rewarding and satisfying thing I have ever done. When our heart desires to minister to others our light shines with the high beam turned on.

Today make sure your light is shining so people can see Christ in you. Don’t let Satan turn your light off through anger, fear, or any other means. Be secure in letting your light shine wherever you go, because Satan will attempt to put the light out any way he can.

Prayer: Lord let your light shine brightly through me and the fire in my heart always increasing. Draw me closer to you, because the closer I am to you the brighter the light shines in me. It is Christ in me who puts the fire in my heart to drive the light. Thank you for guiding me to be a comforting light in this dark fearful world. In Jesus name, Amen
