A Trusting Heart

Posted on

Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.

Isaiah 26:4

A trusting heart is a heart that depends on the Lord and seeks his divine guidance. We live as His servants and we fully trust the Lord.  We trust his thoughts and his ways because He is the master. When we have a trusting heart, the Lord increases our peace and our closeness to Him.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)  A trusting heart is pleasing to the Lord and it shows we know him.  When the Lord is pleased, it is reflected through the Spirit and we experience His peace and comfort.

A trusting heart is acquired when we live as the Lord’s servant, and, being a servant, we always trust our divine Master. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5) We all tend to lean on our own understanding, and we cannot always understand the Lord’s way and his timing.  But, He is God and we are His servant. If we love the Lord more than anybody or anything on the planet, then we can trust His will over our understanding.

If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters–yes, even their own life–such a person cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:26) Fulfilling this verse is essential if we want a trusting heart and if we desire to be close to the Lord. The word “hate” is comparing our love for God to our love for people, including our enemies. It’s amazing how close we can be to the Lord with a trusting heart by seeking to love Him with all our soul, heart, mind, and strength.

Today, see yourself as the Lord’s servant and trust the Lord fully because He is the Master. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) Keep this verse in your heart because it will help you to know God.

Prayer:  Lord, fill my heart with your love and trust for your divine ways. Guide me today as your servant to tell the world of the eternal life you offer to those who believe in you.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
