Hope in Christ

Posted on

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:3

The verse above is a powerful promise from our Lord and it will motivate us to live for Christ.  We live with this hope in our hearts especially in these last days, because our hope is the promise of his love, strength, and wisdom to guide us through life and into our eternal home with the Father and the Son.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3) When our greatest desire is to be with the Father and the Son, then our hope in Christ becomes very powerful in our life. We live to serve the Lord and we endure anything to spend eternity with Christ.  Christ is all fulfilling in this life, and can you imagine what it will be like when we are in His presence?

For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:7-8) The apostle Paul preferred to be away from the physical body, and to be at home with the Lord. He viewed his physical body was a temporary tent belonging to the earth, and he knew Heaven was his home.  This should be the attitude of every Christian, living in the hope of the promise of eternal life, motivated by the desire to be with the Father and the Son.

He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) We are created with eternity in our hearts and we are created to be with the Father and the Son for all eternity. The problem is that Satan seeks to fill our minds with worldly thoughts to replace our eternal thoughts of Heaven.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:15-17) Our desire to be in Heaven is more powerful than any love we have for this world. The world will try to dominant our thoughts, however as we approach end times our thoughts should be more on our hope in Christ and eternal life.

Today know your hope is in Christ and Heaven is your home. Live for eternity as a servant for Christ telling the world that eternal life only comes through Christ. Let people see the hope you have as you live with peace and joy from Christ.

Prayer:  Lord I put my hope and trust in you. Guide me today to be a Light in this dark world.  In Jesus name, Amen
