What is Heaven Like?

Posted on

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”—the things God has prepared for those who love him—these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10

We can read what scripture tells about Heaven, but words cannot describe Heaven — it will be beyond our greatest imagination. Heaven will be life with the Father and the Son, living on the new earth.

The above verse gives a hint of how we will feel in Heaven, because it’s revealed by the Spirit. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) The Spirit brings heaven to us, and Luke tells us the Kingdom is within us. The closer we are to the Lord, the more we experience the fruit of the Spirit, especially love, peace, and joy, because the Spirit is always with us feeding our soul with love, peace, and joy. The fruit is limited because we live in our flesh which craves things of the world, but with our new Spiritual body we will crave things of God, meaning the love, peace, and joy should reach infinity within us. We will live with perfect love, perfect peace, and perfect joy; feeling content and satisfied and never bored in our Heavenly home.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3) This verse is telling us that we will know the Father and the Son. Things we don’t understand now will be understood in Heaven. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12) We will know fully even as I am fully known implies, we will know the Father and the Son as they know us. This means are our minds will probably be more powerful in order to understand the ways of God. We will also have perfect love between the Father, the Son, and everyone in Heaven.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Revelations 21:4) Everything in Heaven will be joyous and fulfilling, there will never be anything that is not pleasing or not fully satisfying. We will also have a new body just as Jesus had a new body after he arose from the grave. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. (1 Corinthians 15:42-44) We will have new younger perfect body with no aches or pains or aging.

Today live for eternity knowing the Lord has a home for you in Heaven. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:3) The Lord will come for you and take you to your new home in Heaven.

Prayer: Lord thank you for my Heavenly home that was possible only through Christ. Guide me in the Spirit to tell others that Heaven can be their home, and this worldly life is short and temporary. In Jesus name, Amen
