We Have Started Our Eternal Life
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 17:3
When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and receive the Holy Spirit, we have started our eternal life. We never die because our spiritual souls live forever. When our temporary flesh dies, we receive a new eternal body that lives forever.
Knowing we have started our eternal life can help us to be eternally minded. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) We were created with eternity in our hearts, but Satan can slowly make us earthly minded. Pray that we realize God has established eternity in our hearts so we will be driven to have our name written in the Book of Life. Because of the loving relationship with Christ developed in this life, our motivation for Heaven is to be with Father and the Son.
If we are eternally minded, we will know this world is not our home, and we live for our Heavenly home. If we know our eternal life has already started when we accept Christ, it will motivate us stay on the narrow road to eternal life. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. (1 john 2:17) We can live this life to the full and be eternally minded. The full life comes from serving the Lord, and serving the Lord keeps us eternally minded. Christ wants us to live this life to the fullest with peace and joy, and live for our eternal life.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10) If we live our life worldly minded, how can we have life to the full? If we are aware that we have started our eternal life, we will be eternally minded which helps us serve the Lord because we care about the eternal life of others. How can we truly have love for others if we are not concerned about their eternal life?
Knowing we are living in our eternal life is a great advantage to us. It keeps our priority on serving Christ, it helps us to love people, it increases our hate of sin, and it gives us courage. Watch, stand fast in faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love. (1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NKJV) Living our eternal life gives us faith and courage with a caring, loving heart for all souls.
Today, remember you have started your eternal life and be concerned about the eternal life of others. Your heart will become like Jesus’ heart, wishing all could be saved. Experience the peace and joy from your eternal life has started.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for eternal life through Christ, and for giving me the fullest life in this sinful world. Help me to be eternally minded and care about the eternal life of others. In Jesus’ name, Amen
