We Are Precious to God

Posted on

Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?

Luke 12:24

Jesus used ravens as an example of how God cares for his creatures. They do not spend their lives in a frantic quest for food to provide for their future needs. They live in hourly dependence on God. God knows our needs, and he will supply them if we trust him and walk in dependence on him.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) If we put God first by walking in obedience to his will, then we have the promise that God will provide for our worldly needs.

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:9–10) God has redeemed us, meaning that he wants us to know him intimately, allowing us to approach the throne of the Creator at any time. He created us in his image, and he desires for us to be in his presence for all eternity.  For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

The God of all creation, who saved us by casting the sins of the world on his own Son, fills us with his Spirit and leads us through life with his love, his wisdom, and his divine power. How precious we are to God cannot be given in words; it is expressed by his perfect love, grace, and mercy. We are precious to God, as seen by the cross, and when we walk with him we can be sure that he walks with us and provides our needs, both spiritual and physical. We fulfill God’s perfect and fulfilling plan for our lives as he leads through every step of life.

Today remember the perfect love God has for you and how pleasing you are to him when you reap the blessings of walking in his good, pleasing, and perfect will. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9) Know this truth of how God sees you; as his special possession. You are special to God and he reveals it through his love and the promise of eternal life.

Prayer:  Lord, today help me to know the love you have for me. Guide me in your wisdom so I can walk in your love.  Thank you for telling me that I am your special possession. I pray that I can live in your blessings today with a thankful heart, because I know that is pleasing to you. In Jesus name, Amen
