He Bore Our Sorrows

Posted on

For everyone born of God overcomes the world.

1 John 5:4

Speaking from first-hand experience, I know that to be addicted is to suffer deeply. Not only does the person that is addicted suffer, so does everyone who loves the addict. An addiction is a powerful tool used by the enemy. It’s a weapon of mass destruction on a spiritual level.

Jesus suffered. There’s no question about it. He knows intimately every bit of pain that we will ever experience. :”

“He was despised and rejected by men of sorrows, and acquainted with grief, and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our grief’s and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. He was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our inequities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace.” (Isaiah 53:3-5)

Jesus also overcame all the pain in this world.

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

After he suffered he presented himself by many proofs.

No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts in under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.”(Luke 8:16)

When you overcome pain of addiction, and you can overcome it, don’t keep it to yourself. You are a light in the darkness. Show those that are still suffering there is hope. You only keep it by giving it away.

Father, I thank you that I am not alone in my suffering or in my healing. Help me to overcome as Jesus did, and to present myself as an over comer and a beacon of light in the darkness. Lord give me victory in Christ Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen
